About the Silver Moon Refuge

You may have wondered "Exactly why did she name this the Silver Moon Refuge? That's kind of an odd name." First, I love the moon motif, so I wanted to incorporate it into the name.

Perhaps more interesting is my use of the word "refuge" to describe my site. As I've surfed around the world of Sailor Moon webpages, I've encountered far too many that looked like they were designed by some twelve year old who had a spare hour or two. Their webpages have annoying backgrounds, too many blinking and animated things, and far too many hokey images strewn haphazardly across their pages.

I wanted to design an elegant site where the layout was beautiful but didn't detract from the content. Thus my site becomes a refuge: someplace those weary Sailor Moon surfers can come and be protected from the headache inducing side of the web.

Secondly, I believe that the world of Sailor Moon is an idealistic one -- As nice as we may like to believe Tokyo may be, it's just not reality. Sailor Moon is all about escapism to a world simpler and more friendly than our own.
